What is it you'd like to do in your life or in the next year? Maybe you'd like to start a new project or finish an existing project. Maybe you'd like to earn more in a different job or save more for some purpose. Maybe you'd like to be in a relationship or improve an existing relationship or end a relationship that isn't working. Maybe you'd like to improve a weak area that you have, similar to a new year's resolution. Maybe you'd even like to make some contribution to the world, but have no idea what or how to do so. Are you actively working on accomplishing these desires, or do they just remain wishes indefinitely?
Be your own boss, which doesn't mean do whatever you want to do. It means taking charge of reaching your goals. It means to give yourself direction and check up on yourself that you're moving forward. Don't be the type where you would want to fire yourself for never reaching any significant level of progress in your goals, whether professional or personal. Why be a drifter down the river of life when you can take a paddle and take charge of your direction and the speed at which you get to your destination. Don't make the excuse that you can't make progress because it depends on someone else who isn't cooperating or who is "blocking your path" to reach your goal. You can make progress even without cooperation. You can't change other people, but you can make progress in your own mindset, actions, and learning of how to move forward.
